so prophetic as to seem dreamlike and surreal, Fight Club is result of a series of accidents, and a little obsessive peaceful encounters. Of these, the first has all the gloom of an internal conflict without apparent output. The narrator, ordinary man, repressed and obsessive, he discovers the drag chronic insomnia and invests the nights to discover the meaning of life. The sense that obviously is not able to find, if we exclude the achievement of a new, renewed awareness: two souls, haunted discipline and desire for revenge, he fought for the spirit and now live together, tearing the same man. The other meetings as the best domino effects are all a result of the first: in a support group for terminally ill patients in which usually infiltrate the troubled narrator meets Marla, a young dark and enigmatic existential crisis that will lead straight into the arms of a Tyler Durden, a sick genius of anarchy. Just under the influence of the latter, the anonymous narrator discovers a new dimension, that of fighting and violence as externalization of his inner opacity. This produces the fight club, centers of fighting illegal parapugilistici, disorder, and from time to time, terrorism. But the terminals of a parallel world and nihilistic, the stage of a theater of the absurd that has turned into a parody of a very successful and very dark game.
Masterpiece noir, Fight Club will seem at times the work of a visionary. Nothing could be further from the truth: Fight Club is the last reading, philosophy and psychology (a reading absolutely avant-garde) of a nightmare deaf, and spreading underground, the cry of a black underwater world which is none other than Chuck Palahniuk 's single, uncontested, legitimate king.
